Glogster – What a great Resource

The Glog posters above are just two of the ways Glogster can be used in the classroom to enhance student learning. What a great resource!

In a digital world where the concept of literacy and being literate has evolved to incorporate ‘multiliteracies’ – students require opportunities to ‘understand, interpret, reflect on and create a broad range of written, spoken and multimodal texts across a wide range of contexts’ (Anstey & Bull, 2010).

Glogster is an online tool that enables students to create virtual posters of just about anything – the above images display how glogster can be used in the science context to demonstrate scientific thinking and the experimental process and also for HSIE in a project form. Its versatility provides students with a creative platform to present and apply their knowledge and skills across a broad range of contexts to develop their digital literacy as they engage with a range of multimodal texts including visual, video, audio and more.

The multimodal feature of Glogster means that it would appeal to a wider range of learning styles, catering for diversity, and provides students with choice as to how they present their knowledge and understandings.

The interactive nature of Glogster also enables students to develop problem solving skills as they learn how to embed media, audio and images and provides opportunities for assessment of these skills.

Unlike many other online tools Glogster can be private which also provides a safe learning environment for students to engage, explore and have fun with technology!
